We believe that when we act together, small actions add up to big change – and we're committed to making that change in our very own community. We celebrated Earth Day by joining the Friends of the LA River for their Great River Cleanup. They're leading a movement to restore the river's natural habitat, fueled by the dream of a river free from concrete.
We spent a Saturday morning with dozens of other volunteers cleaning the Glendale Narrows Riverwalk. Together, our team filled 14 bags with trash we found in and around the river. Some of the things we picked up? A pair of pants, 2 golf balls, a hammock, and a mattress.
We decided to volunteer in our very own backyard as a way to act locally and think globally. By removing some trash from our river, we're also helping prevent that garbage from affecting river wildlife or making its way down to the ocean.
Want to get involved this Earth Month? For every purchase made from now through 4/29, we'll donate 10% of the proceeds to Friends of the LA River.
Or make an impact in your own community and volunteer with or donate to a local 1% For The Planet partner organization.
