From the beginning, we've always aimed to create high-quality gear without causing unnecessary harm to the planet. That value includes ensuring that the materials we use in our helmets are as sustainable as possible.
But what is vegan leather, anyway? Below, all of your questions about our vegan leather straps – answered.
WHAT IS VEGAN LEATHER?
Our vegan leather is a leather substitute made entirely of synthetic materials. It's naturally water resistant and is more breathable and durable than traditional leather or other lower-quality synthetic substitutes. Made with animals and the environment in mind, it's more eco-friendly than genuine leather and takes fewer resources to produce.
WHAT IS IT MADE OF?
Also known as vegetan micro, the vegan leather we use is made up of a combination of microfiber and polyurethane (PU) and is a higher-quality alternative to other synthetic materials.
WHY NOT USE A NYLON STRAP?
We're big fans of the distinctive heritage style of the 60s and 70s and wanted our helmets to stay true to that aesthetic while using eco-friendly materials. If you're looking for a Thousand helmet with a nylon strap, our monochromatic Stealth Black helmet features black nylon straps.
For us, sustainability isn't just a one-day campaign – it's woven into how we do business 365 days a year. From our partnership with 1% For The Planet to our Carbon Offset Program, we're committed to making high-quality gear without causing unnecessary harm to our planet.
